JUKEBOX

"Success/failure in an academic setting often doesn't translate well to success/failure on the job."

The main reason I haven't posted lately is that I'm fully focused on working right now. I managed to get a position as a sales representative and I love it because I get to practice my social skills and see very different people. It's also great because I choose when I work, therefore it improves my self-discipline and the ambitious side of me can finally rise and shine. I'm planning to work until I go to Defense Forces in October.

No, that's not the job I was talking about - working at home with my bro

About my academic status, I'm now a student of Tallinn University of Technology. However, I'm going to really start studying next year because I have to serve 8 months in the Forces first. The hardest part was to choose what I'm going to study for the following 3 or 4 years. The choices were Business Information Technology & Electrical Power Engineering/Mechatronics - it wasn't an easy choice, I asked my friends and family, analyzed myself where I'd fit the best in future, looked up for possible career options, etc. Finally, I went with the second choice.

Thank you, EBS!

What else? There was a video contest organized by Estonian Business School which I chose to took part in with my friend Erik. The name of the contest was Entrepreneurial DNA and we had to answer some questions about entrepreneurship in a 1-minute video. Cool thing was that we started making the video a day before the deadline and somehow got 2nd place. We won 2 WEEKEND Festival tickets and I get to study in EBS's Open University for free (6 ECTS). I'm telling, next year is going to have a lots of self-improvement and studying. Now that I'm writing this post, I'm realizing all that. I already feel the exhaustion hitting me.

What makes me enterprising?

About the fun part, we had a small party with our friends this weekend. Not much to talk about it - typical drinking and eating contest as always.. Therefore, a great friend of mine Kristel took some marvelous photos. Check out her Facebook (pahkelphoto) and Instagram (@pahkelphoto)!

All of you who fancy the music from the previous century, I have something special for you. I found this Youtube channel called Postmodern Jukebox. They cover trending new music and make these songs groovy, classy, oldish & golden. Check them out and I'm sure you'll fall in love with these masterpieces.

Squads & Squats

"Consistency is the last refuge of the unimaginative." - Oscar Wilde

I stayed in Tallinn for 5 days and it included attending the blog awards event, 3-days training course, seeing an old friend and meeting new ones. First of all, I'd like to thank all of you who voted. 404 votes isn't bad and if I had participated in an only-men category, I would've came 3rd. Unfortunately, I chose the category for newcomers where only the first place was recognized and I didn't qualify for that. Still, I'm a huge fan of the blogger who came first. Her name is Kadri-Ly and she's really inspiring because while she's fighting cancer she doesn't stop to pursue her dream to become a bikini fitness star. Go check her blog out in HERE! Furthermore, my very-very great friend Mariel obtained the youth blog award again (2 years in a row). You can check out the last year's post and also her blog (what she calls not fashion or fitness oriented..but it is). The event was great. We went there all together - Mariel, Kristel, Lotta, Kevin & I #squadgoals.

The following day, the others went home but I stayed in Tallinn and met up with Mery-Ly. Those who have been reading my blog for a while may know her from the post I wrote in last summer. We met at the media seminar I attended in August and now decided to catch up. We chatted about things going on in our lives lately, went to cinema and watched Wonder Woman (OK film but nothing special), attended a street food festival and somehow ended up doing maths (?!), wtf, right? :D I was really glad to see her.

And the remaining 3 days I spent learning at a training course provided by the company I work for and arguing with my sister about feminism and veganism.
After I came back to my sweet hometown I had my first workdays, Mery-Ly came to visit me this time not the other way around and I attended my friend Kärt's birthday sauna party.

I squat one Mery-Ly, how about you?

Best service

"Change your thoughts and you change your world." - Norman Vincent Peale

Not sure if any of you remember but a few weeks ago I carried out a 3-day workshop about programming with Sander for primary school students. The course was a total success and we even decided to participate in a contest which was meant to support the best student companies and projects. We presented our workshop and turned out the winners of a category called "Best service". Besides that we got sponsored by SEB (bank) and we felt damn good that our effort paid off.

About the fun part of my life, I attended my friend Triinu's birthday event. It was cool except that one guy in there constantly changed songs and some of us weren't so happy about it. Unfortunately, I had to get home early because the following day I had to dance the whole day. My motivation for dancing is on critical level but I pushed myself to perform at my county's dance celebration. It didn't go as well as it should've gone - the first dance went so bad that it was embarrassing, however the second and the third one came out fine. The day was exhausting because we had to train from morning till evening but I'm satisfied with myself because I managed to come out of my comfort zone. I would also like to thank Ako who took the pictures at the dance celebration.

Monopoly

"Study as if you were going to live forever; live as if you were going to die tomorrow." - Maria Mitchell

Exam time! Recently I had a national exam in Estonian and I have no idea how did I do but I hope the results will be over 70% because Estonian is not my strongest suit(math is!). A week ago or so I was chilling with my friends and at one point we decided to play Monopoly. That one point was 1 a.m and we finished the game after 4 a.m and I won. It was my first time to play Monopoly till the end and I loved it. I wonder why I didn't have winning a Monopoly match on my bucket list. I attended my friend Elerin's birthday party too and it was cool!

Also, I passed the medical for Defense Forces and therefore it's now a sure thing that in October I'm going to join Defense Forces and serve 8 months before I go to university.
We celebrated our final official schoolday in a traditional high school way. Everyone dressed up like kids and behaved like first-graders. Furthermore, we made a video about our class IIIMF (III mathematics-physics) - check it out for sure, even though it's in Estonian. After that we had a huge "Project X"-a-like party with my fellow 12th graders - it was lit. The following day I had a cross-country race but I had to forfeit the race because my health is rebelling against me. Because of that I have to cancel two races I had planned up in April and May...

ACED IT

"He played the king as if afraid someone else would play the ace." - John Mason Brown

Simple Session 17 was top notch! After last year's Simple Session I knew that I'm definately going to attend the event again in 2017. Our squad UNIKUM - Kaido, Mark, Simon, Härold & I; we were thrilled. We went to Tallinn by train and as we stayed again at Mark and Simon's older brother and his friends' house, I had that Deja Vu feeling when we arrived. We went to Tallinn on Friday, right after school. Simple Session's qualifications started on Saturday. I kept my fingers crossed for my favorite skaters and riders. Unfortunately none of the Estonians qualified for the finals and neither did my favorite street BMX rider Courage Adams. My favorite skaters Kechaud Johnson and Beaver Fleming both qualified for the finals and I managed to take a picture with Kechaud again (check out the last year's post too). It was awesome to shake hands and tell him "Nice riding, man!" At first we were with our guys' group but our friend from Tallinn also joined us. Hanna is the skater fan-girl I'm talking about and she also brought her friend Kayli with her who also seemed to be very nice. Later, after we arrived at our crib, we had some beers and played Guitar Hero - it was lit.

Finals were even more heart-pounding. Kechaud's finals didn't go as well as I hoped for. I'm pretty sure that he wasn't satisfied either. He finished 9th and Beaver 6th. Beaver shined bright when it was time for the Skate Best Trick contest. He managed to surprise the crowd and judges with his technical skills and earned lots of cash thanks to that.

Grindin' that rail real good

Unikum (Kaido is missing)

It was interesting to watch BMX street but it wasn't the same without Courage Adams. Last year he just ACED IT. BMX park on the other hand is always the most emotional and frightering to watch. I'm a huge fan of Peraza brothers and because only Kevin Peraza qualified for the finals, I cheered on him the most. He won the BMX contest last year but this year he had to leave with the 6th place. He did an awful mistake by trying to grind on a rail which nobody else was brave enough to try. He fell twice and that was enough for Larry Edgar to claim the win.

We went home on Monday and before leaving the capital city, I saw my old friend Erli. It's important to mention here because she's the one who has encouraged me and left me a really positive and motivational feedback about my blog. We had a small chat and it definately made my weekend even better to see another friendly face after all.
Now, the last thing - vlog. Mark made a rad video of the weekend. Check it out!!

The Reds

"You have to execute. You have to sacrifice your body." - Pedro Martinez

We have this tradition in our school which our teachers aren't really fond of. It's a fun event where all the newcomers are dressed up as foxes and basically obliged to obey their ''masters'' which would be us, the seniors. Giving the ''foxes'' hard time would perhaps be an understatement because some of the stuff they have to go through is frankly quite gross. I was supposed to be the lord of two foxes though one of them was a bit freaked out by the oddities that he may have had to do and skipped school that day. Thankfully, the other one had more guts and even brought me chocolate to show who's the boss! It was a delightful day and in the end I had a lot of fun (whether or not my fox felt the same way is unguaranteed). ''Rebaste ristimine'' as we call the event has never been a piece of cake for new students here and this year was never going to be any different!

There have been so much going lately but sadly I just can't write about everything. Talking about an event which occured 2 weeks ago already, Tour d'ÖÖ (Tour de NIGHT) - what is it? The answer is simple, it's about riding bikes when the sun has gone down. Events like this make my hometown really cozy and pleasant to live in.

So, what else did I want to talk about? As some of you might know, I haven't been doing much sport lately so that means I should be out of shape, ye? Well, I approved myself the opposite on last Thursday. I took part of the local 3000m cross-country race and finished 2nd in high school men's run (10min 41sec). Wonder, if I had been training for the run properly, would I've won the gold medal then?

GRAND PRIX

"We do not remember days, we remember moments." - Cesare Pavese

Oh, time flies.. Almost two weeks ago, I organized an equestrian competition with my two schoolmates Annie and Brigita. As the event took place in Heimtali, we named the event simply after its location - Heimtali Grand Prix. It's really hilarious that I agreed to do something like this because I've only rode a horse once before and it was still when I was a little child. However, I like challenge, so planning the Grand Prix was a new experience for me. It wasn't easy but it was suppose to be challenging.

Going to congratulate the winners with Brigita and Annie

It was quite frightening for me to see the horses ride so fast and jump over the obstacles

We started early in the morning. Got up and waited for Brigita to pick me up so we could go and put the things ready for the competition. The event itself started at 11 o'clock so we had a fair enough time. There was about 20 participants and three different levels. Everything went fine except we had two crashes, one was quite crucial but at least both riders were fine afterwards.

The atmosphere was country-like
